In addition to general stability improvements, this update also fixes a bug that prevented the dark theme from being activated at certain times.

In this great month, Google put out a Pixel update that fixed a big problem with Android's "gesture navigation" and "three-button navigation" systems.

Those Pixel users have been facing navigation problems since the official release of Android 16, according to a report by technology site Engadget.

One Pixel 8 user says, "Since the update, the phone's navigation has been 'completely messed up' and the buttons would become completely ineffective, sometimes not responding for more than 30 seconds."

Another Pixel 9 user complains, "Sometimes the back button wouldn't work even after pressing it several times."

Artem Rasakovsky of the tech site Android Police says that the swipe gesture used for back navigation also sometimes did not work.

Google's patch notes describe the issues very vaguely, saying that they "may occur in certain situations". In addition to general stability improvements, this update also fixes a bug that caused the dark theme to not activate at certain times.

The update also fixes a major security issue that could have allowed hackers to execute code remotely.

The update is now being rolled out to Pixel 6 and later models.
