Instead of bringing a new series of foldable phones, rumors have been circulating that Samsung is planning to launch a smartphone that can be folded three times or 'triple-folding'.
The company is going to bring a triple-folding smartphone to the market before the end of this year, TechCrunch reported.
"The company may release such a device this year," TM Roh, the head of Samsung's consumer electronics division, told The Korea Times.
"I hope to be able to bring a tri-fold phone to the market by this year. We are now focusing on perfecting the product and its effective use. Its name has not been decided yet. Since the product is in the process of being fully developed, we plan to make a final decision soon."
Samsung is working on a tri-fold device, according to another unnamed executive who spoke to Android Authority.
Samsung hosted its summer 'Galaxy Unpacked 2025' event earlier on Wednesday. The company debuted its next-generation "Galaxy Z Flip" and "Galaxy Z Fold" smartphones at the event.
Tha "Gelaxy Z Fold 7" is thinner and lighter than its predecessor. It measures just 4.2mm thick when unfolded and 8.9mm thick when folded, making it the most compact foldable design to date.
On the other hand, the new Galaxy Z Flip 7 now features a larger 4.1-inch screen, which houses two punch-hole cameras. The Flip 6's 6.7-inch inner screen has been enlarged to 6.9 inches, in addition to the outer screen.
