When a technical error occurs while starting a computer or laptop running the Windows operating system, a blue 'Blue Screen of Death' (BSOD) screen appears on the monitor screen. Through the code on the screen, Windows informs you about the problem due to which the computer is not starting. This familiar blue screen, which was introduced four decades ago, will no longer be seen on computers and laptops running the Windows 11 operating system. Instead, a new black screen will be displayed.
Microsoft said that the new screen has been experimentally launched for users of the 'Release Preview' channel of the Windows 11 operating system. It will be launched for all users in the next few weeks. Instead of the previous annoyed face emoji or QR code, a brief information about the technical error will be displayed on the screen of a computer running the Windows 11 operating system. As a result, it will take less time to understand the source of the problem and can be resolved faster.
According to Microsoft, not only will the color of the Blue Screen of Death change, but the ‘Quick Machine Recovery’ feature will also be added to Windows’ error management. As a result, if the operating system fails to start, the feature will try to resolve the error through Windows’ ‘Recovery Environment’. The "Windows Resilience Initiative" is the name of the project that made these changes. The aim of this initiative is to make Windows more stable, reliable and able to automatically deal with problems.
It is worth noting that last year, a large number of Windows computers in different parts of the world were rendered inoperable due to a faulty software update by cybersecurity company Crowdstrike. After that incident, Microsoft started working to change the way the Windows operating system diagnoses errors. Microsoft said that this new screen and QMR technology will be officially released as part of the ‘Windows 11 24H2’ version later this year.
