When you search for something on Google Search, you usually have to scroll through many results to find the desired information. AI Mode saves time right there.
Bird, Gemini, NotebookLM and then AI Overviews Google's list of AI tools is growing so fast that it's hard to keep up. But these are not the end, in the continuation of the previous one, 'AI Mode' is coming this time.
In June of this year, "Google AI Mode" was officially announced. It can be used on any device that can use Google, such as desktop or mobile, according to the report by technology site Slashgear.
Simply put, Google AI Mode is a new feature added to Google Search, whose job is to provide research-based and detailed information in response to the user's search query and present it in a more organized and structured way.
You need to click on the AI Mode tab next to the search bar to use it. Once you turn it on, you'll start getting more direct, AI-powered answers than you would with a regular search.
AI Mode is not like Gemini or Overview:
Tha newest AI feature in Google Search is AI Mode. While it shares many similarities with Google's other AI tools, it has some of its own unique features.
Gemini, which is the new name for Bird, is a chatbot that people usually use with Google's AI Assistant. AI Overviews, on the other hand, are blocks of AI-generated summaries or answers based on summaries that show up at the top of a search but don't let you interact with them. NotebookLM is a specialized AI tool designed primarily for note-taking.
In comparison, AI Mode is a part of Google Search itself, which is entirely powered by AI. It's not a chatbot that works on its own, like Gemini. It uses the same platform as Google Search.
Searching for something on Google Search usually requires you to sift through a lot of results to find the information you want. That's where AI mode saves time. It summarizes results for the user and provides useful links. It can even be used for online shopping, as Google has announced that AI mode can analyze billions of product data and provide suggestions as needed.
It is now running on Gemini 2.5, and people with a Google account can use it for free. However, some features, such as AI-generated visual content, are available as paid features.
